Key Leader is a World-Wide Kiwanis Youth Program; Since April 2005 Key Leader has served more than 21,000 students at 450 Key Leader events in 39 U.S. states, 5 Canadian provinces, Malaysia, Brazil, Cayman Islands, El Salvador & Singapore. In Montana we have offered this weekend training camp to students who leave with a re-energized attitude; a better understanding of self and a new set of tools to make them better service leaders in their schools, Key Clubs, and communities.
Select the yellow Register Now Button at the top of this webpage. Be ready to provide basic contact information, including an e-mail address. Students will need to list an adult who recommends them for the program (the nominator), and the adult or organization who is paying their fee (the sponsor).

Who can attend a Key Leader event?
Events are open to all students, incoming Freshman to Senior grades, including those currently in a Kiwanis student group such as Key Club and students who have not yet been a part of a Kiwanis family program. There is no limit on the number of participants from the same school.
What is the schedule for the weekend?
Students will arrive for registration from 4p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and depart after 11:30 a.m. on Sunday. All lodging, meals and activities are at the event site during that time.
What happens at a Key Leader weekend?
The students have large- and small-group activities, with a combination of lectures, discussion, interactive activities and audio-visual presentations. Every weekend will offer a lot of fun with new friends.
Which adults will be present during the weekend?
A professional Key Leader facilitator will lead the event. This facilitator brings to the program excellent experience working with young people, and has successfully completed a training course on the curriculum. Each Kiwanis district provides trained adult volunteers to coordinate the logistics and supervise students. Kiwanis International completes a limited criminal history background check on all of the adults who will be present for the weekend.
Are there student leadership opportunities during a Key Leader Weekend?
Yes. Students in 11th and 12th grades who have previously attended a Key Leader event may apply to be student facilitators.
How much does it cost?
Non-Key Club attendees: $250 US
Key Club attendees: $225 US – Kiwanis International $25 Scholarship is automatically applied when student registers.
Student Facilitators (already attended camp and are Jr or Sr level): $175 If students meet that requirement they should register as a Facilitator to be considered for the position.
Adults: $115 – All adults must register early and complete the “Kiwanis Background Check” required to work and stay with Kiwanis Kids. This is mandatory and no exceptions. It takes 6 weeks to get clearance so please register now if you want to attend and be a part of the fun!
